As Hollywood’s newest heartthrob, it’s perhaps understandable that Jacob Elordi is considered a frontrunner for the role of James Bond. To support his candidacy even further, one former actor from the spy franchise has now backed the Wuthering Heights and Euphoria star.
Rosamund Pike may have gone on to garner acclaim for her roles in Gone Girl and I Care a Lot, but the actor had a role in the James Bond franchise in the early part of her career as Miranda Frost in 2002’s Die Another Day.
In an interview with GQ Magazine, Pike admitted that she hadn’t seen the action film, which starred Pierce Brosnan as the MI6 spy, since its release. She was, however, asked about who she thought could be the next 007.

While she didn’t give a concrete answer, she did praise Elordi, with whom she starred in Saltburn. She called him a “fantastic actor”, adding: “He certainly looks like a great Bond. I mean, why not?”
Elordi, who recently received an Academy Award nomination for his performance in Frankenstein, has shot up the bookmakers’ odds in recent weeks, with Eternity star Callum Turner also being a favourite.
Journalist Marina Hyde, who co-hosts The Rest Is Entertainment podcast with Richard Osman, recently bigged up Elordi’s chances, sharing: “I have heard from a number of people now that Jacob Elordi has kind of moved into pole position.”
“He’s 28, so he could easily do a good 10 years, which is what [the studio] really [wants]. They [Amazon MGM Studios] want someone who is going to own this for a generation,” added Osman.

While it remains to be seen if Elordi will be the next actor to portray Ian Fleming’s iconic spy, work on the 26th film in the long-running franchise is already under way, with Steven Knight penning a screenplay for director Denis Villeneuve.
Knight, who created the Peaky Blinders franchise, recently provided a general update on the upcoming film, sharing: “It’s really, really good. It’s going incredibly well, we’ve got the best people. I can’t wait for people to see it!”
