Cary Elwes remembers his Princess Bride co-star André on what would have been his 80th birthday

Cary Elwes has spoken about Andre many times, he obviously left a big impression on him. 

Andre was so proud of being in princess bride that he used to invite his wrestler friends over to his house and he’d always put on the video of princess bride for them to watch together, then as soon as the film was over he’d excitedly say “shall we watch it again?” and want to put it back on from the beginning. 

Billy Crystal also still talks about Andre and loved Andre so much that he wanted to make a film with them together, Andre passed before it could happen but the concept eventually became the 1998 film My Giant about Billy befriending a 7’7 man.

I’m sure Andre would be honored that 40 years later these actors still remember him fondly, Andre never felt like he fit in because of his size but he really enjoyed being in the princess bride and respected working with the actors and being treated like one of them.
