Talent runs in the Travolta family.
Ella Bleu Travolta, the only daughter of actors John Travolta and the late Kelly Preston, has been following in her parents’ footsteps since 2009, when she made her onscreen debut in the film “Old Dogs” at the tender age of 7.
Over the years, the father-daughter duo has collaborated on several projects, and they’re at it once again with their latest film, “Propeller: One-Way Night Coach.”
John Travolta wrote, directed and narrated the Apple TV movie, which follows a young airplane enthusiast’s big trip in the skies.
Before the film’s premiere on May 29, the Travoltas attended the Cannes Film Festival together to promote the project. There, John Travolta was surprised with an honorary Palme d’Or.

She’s a Middle Child
After getting married in 1991, “The Experts” co-stars John Travolta and Preston welcomed their first child, a son named Jett Travolta, in 1992.
Flash forward eight years and they expanded their family with the addition of a daughter named Ella Bleu Travolta on April 3, 2000.
“To the sweetest girl in the world. You are magical in all that you do,” Preston wrote in a 2020 Instagram post devoted to her daughter. The sweet sentiment accompanied a throwback bath-time pic of the mother-daughter duo.
Of his daughter, John Travolta raved to People in 2019, “She is her own person. She is gracious, generous, poised, graceful and gorgeous. I don’t know how she came to be, and I don’t take any credit other than just adoring her. And maybe that’s a valid contribution.”
Jett Travolta, who’d had a history of seizures throughout his life, suffered a fatal one at the age of 16 in 2009 while staying at his family’s vacation home in the Bahamas. Following his death, John Travolta and Preston welcomed a son named Benjamin in 2010.
She Got Her Start Acting with Her Parents
Ella Bleu Travolta’s film career kicked off with the 2009 Disney comedy “Old Dogs,” which also stars both of her parents — and that was, of course, no coincidence.

Her dad first pitched the idea of her appearing on screen when she was just 5 years old, but as he once explained during a visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” she told him she wasn’t ready yet. When she changed her tune two years later, he wasted no time securing her a role in a film he’d been offered. And when Preston wanted to make it a family affair, he made that happen, too.
“It was the best filming experience I’ve ever had, bar none,” Preston said in an interview while promoting the film. “It was so much fun, and it was just the greatest to be able to be in her first movie.”
Ella Bleu Travolta went on to star alongside her dad once more in 2019’s “The Poison Rose,” before moving on to her first leading role in the “Alice in Wonderland” riff “Get Lost.”
In 2026, Ella Bleu Travolta also starred in “Alicia in Wonderland” and “Propeller: One-Way Night Coach,” per IMdB.
While speaking with People in 2023, Ella Bleu Travolta gushed about how much she enjoys working with her father.
“I always jump at the opportunity to do something with my dad and we always have the most fun doing something together,” she said.
While speaking with Parade in 2023, Ella Bleu Travolta said she’s wanted to follow in her parents’ footsteps for a long time.
“Pretty much as long as I can remember, I’ve always just loved the arts in general—acting, singing, dancing, and I grew up around it. So it was just such a natural part of my life that continuing to do that just feels right and I really enjoy it. It’s definitely been something that I’ve wanted to do for pretty much my whole life,” she said.
She Released Her First EP in 2024
In addition to being an actor, Ella Bleu Travolta is also a singer.
John Travolta, who’s recorded a number of celebrated albums over the course of his own career, encouraged his daughter to pursue her passion for music when he learned that she had written and recorded snippets of songs during the pandemic,.
“He was like, ‘Oh, wow, you should really finish these. You should finish these songs, and then you could record demos of them or something,’” Ella Bleu Travolta recounted to People.
After that, she released her first two singles: “Dizzy” in 2022 and “Little Bird” in 2024.
The budding musician’s father even co-produced her first EP, “Colors of Love,” which debuted in 2024.
“He’s amazing and he’s so protective because he’s been in this industry — in the movie industry, in the music industry — forever, so he knows how to protect me in that sense,” Ella Bleu Travolta explained during an appearance on the 3rd hour of TODAY.
She added that she’d love to do a Christmas duet with him in the future.

In 2022, John Travolta took to Instagram to share a photo of his daughter during fashion week.
“So proud of Ella’s debut at fashion week in New York City!” he captioned the post.
In 2025, Ella Bleu Travolta appeared on the “Tea Time” podcast and discussed her passion for fashion.
“I do love fashion. I’m definitely finding myself more and more in the fashion world. I really appreciate it. And I do love all the different styles and seeing people’s different styles. So, it’s really nice to sort of be getting to be a part of that a little bit,” she said.
Ella Bleu Travolta also explained how the fashion, movie and music industries are “very different” but “all go together.”
Looking to the future, Ella Bleu Travolta said she’d like to stay involved in the fashion industry in some capacity.
“I’d love to design some stuff someday, like have some collaboration. I think (it) would be really, really cool,” she said.

The career encouragement Ella Bleu Travolta has received from her father over the years is a two-way street.
“He’s my biggest fan, and I’m his biggest fan, so there’s a lot of support going on,” she explained in a chat with Parade in 2023. “It’s amazing. I learn so much from him, all the time.”
Ella Bleu Travolta told the publication her father always has the best advice, but he doesn’t want her to follow it blindly.
“So, whether I follow it or whether I make my own conclusion from it, he’s always encouraging me to think for myself,” she said.
She Loves Having a ‘Creative Outlet’
During her appearance on the “Tea Time” podcast in 2025, Ella Bleu Travolta discussed her love for both acting and singing.
“It would be great one day to sort of like merge the two, which is definitely possible,” she said.
The actor went on to say “all kind of art makes me happy.”
“I love painting as well. And as long as I have some creative outlet, I’m happy,” she said.
She Honors Her Late Mother and Brother Every Year
Ella Bleu Travolta’s family has been rocked by tragedy more than once.
In 2020, the family suffered another blow when Preston, at the age of 57, died following a battle with breast cancer.
One of the songs on her new EP, “Little Bird,” is a tribute to Preston, with its music video featuring family footage.
“I think it’s different for each person going through loss but for me personally it was just this pure message I wanted to sort of give to my mom, because even though there can be so much support from everyone it can also sometimes get in the way of how you truly feel and how you want to communicate those sort of last words to that person or just give a communication to them,” she said on the 3rd hour of TODAY in 2024.
“This was sort of my message from a baby bird to a mama bird and also to yourself too because you will always know what’s right,” she continued.
