EXCLUSIVE: A24 has wrapped Dev Patel revenge-action thriller The Peasant, which becomes the studio’s first production to shoot in India.

    Joining Oscar nominee Patel in the cast are Christian Friedel (The Zone of Interest), Sebastian Bull (Sons), Saurabh Sachdeva (Animal), Anasuya Sengupta (The Shameless) and Vipin Sharma (Monkey Man).

    Directed by Patel and written by Patel and Will Dunn (Ms. Marvel), the film “follows a 14th-century shepherd seeking revenge against mercenaries who ravaged his community. As he hunts them down, his true nature emerges.”

    The movie wrapped production this month and shot across multiple locations across the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan.

    Pic is produced by Patel and his Minor Realm banner alongside Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Charlie Morrison for Thunder Road Pictures, and A24. As we revealed last year, A24 has global rights.

    The project reunites Patel with Thunder Road, which produced Monkey Man, his feature directorial debut, which he also co-wrote and starred in. Executive producers are Graham Taylor, Chris Rice, Christopher Slager, and Dan Guando for Fifth Season, Shivani Rawat and Julie Goldstein for ShivHans Pictures, Sherrese Clark and Niija Kuykendall for HarbourView, and Will Dunn. 

    Christian Friedel is represented by UTA, United Agents, and Players in Germany. Sebastian Bull is represented by Subtitle Talent Agency and in Denmark by Charles & Ryaa. Anasuya Senguta is represented by Tulsea. Vipin Sharma is represented by Mills Kaplan Ent. Sachdeva is repped by Totem Collective.
