We all know that the busy morning rush before the school run can be a hectic time of day and, Prince William has revealed, that’s the case even if you’re part of the Royal Family. While co-hosting a one-off radio show special, Prince William opened up about his life with The Princess of Wales and their three children; Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
While co-hosting Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden on the morning of Friday (22 May), Prince William was asked by Amanda Holden whether he’d usually be doing the school run at that time, and whether it was as chaotic as most people’s mornings are.

‘It can be,’ Prince William confirmed, saying the level of chaos depended on the activities of the day. ‘It depends if there’s a guitar lesson going on in the morning – a music lesson – you’ve got to get the guitar in the car. No, we’re not taking the guitar, we need the bag for school. Are we boarding [overnight at school]? No, we’re not. Are we seeing friends? No, we’re not. So there’s all that going on in the morning.’
On the way to school, he also revealed that his three children had a particular snack they enjoyed which could get rather messy. ‘There’s a lot of jam sandwiches taken in the car usually,’ Prince William confessed. ‘Louis will leave jam fingerprints throughout the car, which is really helpful.’

The Prince also revealed that Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis would be listening to the show live that morning (Prince George would have been at school already, as he was boarding the night before, he added). So, the dad of three gave a direct message over the airwaves as his two youngest got ready for school; ‘Charlotte and Louis, if you’re listening make sure you’re on time please. Make sure you’re not fighting over who’s listening to what this morning.’

As part of his time co-presenting the show, Prince William was able to choose some of the songs that would be played. One of those he chose was in his children’s honour, selecting a favourite song by an artist they loved. ‘Charlotte, my daughter, and Louis to be fair, but Charlotte particularly, is obsessed by Taylor Swift. We went to see her on her Eras tour and it was amazing.’ Prince William chose the song Opalite to play in their honour.
He also shared his experience of seeing meeting Taylor Swift and seeing her in concert. ‘It was at Wembly we had a box so we were watching from up there,’ he said. ‘The atmosphere was so incredible you could actually feel the floors shaking when they were all dancing.’
The Prince of Wales took part in the special edition of Heart Radio’s breakfast show to raise awareness around his work with the Isles of Scilly Hospital.
