The Uninvited, the “riveting” and “clever” drama starring Pedro Pascal and Walton Goggins, has just landed a new streaming home in the UK. Though not one of Pascal’s best known projects, this is a worthy watch over the weekend.
Released in 2024, the film follows Rose, an actor-turned-homemaker who decides to host a party with her agent husband Sammy. Tensions begin to rise when an elderly woman, Helen, arrives at the party unexpectedly.
The synopsis reads: “Everything’s ready for the party. Rose and Sammy just have to pretend to be a perfect couple for a while. But two unexpected guests turn the night into an awkward comedy about success, being forgotten… and how badly some wounds heal.”

Written and directed by Nadia Conners, The Uninvited garnered a generally positive response from critics, with Rotten Tomatoes currently reporting a solid approval rating of 77% from 39 reviews.
IndieWire described the film as a “riveting drama”, adding: “Shot in just 15 days on a single location, The Uninvited is a clever directorial debut that straddles the traditions of theatre and independent film with ease.”
“Enfolding such critiques into a movie that addresses tender and universal anxieties about what it means to be remembered is harder, and the humane touch of the final sequences makes Conners’ debut into a small but real achievement,” wrote Sight & Sound.
The Austin Chronicle opined: “Conners’ dialogue and images are succinct and well-crafted, and enough good things cannot be said of this spectacular cast who bring their characters to life with precision and intriguing fascination.”
