Alexandra Anna Daddario was born on March 16, 1986, in New York City. She was raised on the Upper East Side in a family with a diverse heritage, including Italian, Irish, English, and Slovak roots. Her father, Richard Daddario, is a former prosecutor and NYPD counter-terrorism chief, while her mother, Christina, is a lawyer. Her siblings, Matthew and Catharine, are also actors, and her grandfather, Emilio Q. Daddario, served as a U.S. congressman.

At the age of 11, she decided to pursue a career in acting and secured her first television role at 16 as Laurie Lewis on the daytime soap opera _All My Children_. She attended the Brearley School and Professional Children’s School before studying at Marymount Manhattan College, where she refined her skills in the Meisner technique prior to dedicating herself to acting full-time.
