All I can say is, thank goodness for shows like Only Murders in the Building, Grace and Frankie and Hacks.

    2. See also: late night talk shows are more likely to be hosted by a James than a woman.

Never understood it. Even as a girl I always liked older women in a series or a movie.
They bring so much to the table and I rather watch these movies etc. LOVE Grace & Frankie for example!
And for crying out loud: Casting a 30/40-something woman as an “old woman” is bullshit.

    4. They’re measuring box office gross not opportunity in film.  The problem is us.

This is sadly relatable as someone in her 20s, even. I work in a male-dominated industry, and my go-to quip when asked about being a Woman in [Industry] has been, “It feels weird when there’s more men named Chris in a meeting than there are women, but you get used to it.”

I mean, when Chris the talking earthworm is in your film, you really can’t say no.

Discrimination against mature women is palpable. It is not just in Hollywood honestly. This is pervasive across industries.

Here’s hoping Remarkably Bright Creatures starts a new trend.

It’s interesting it’s from an “anti-ageism” campaign because it’s inextricably tied to misogyny. I’m positive there’s magnitudes more movies starring men over 60.

Taylor Sheridan, say what you want about his tv shows, but there are women over 60 playing characters in 1923, Tulsa King and the new Dutton Ranch, and not just that but they play real badassess too.
