    1. Having hand crafted/smaller Scottish foods against mass produced English foods is a bit disingenuous. They could have had say a Wigan Kebab or an East Cornwall Pasty Company Cornish Pasty vs the Macaroni Pie, a millionaires Slice vs the Tunnocks wafer… Little unfair…

    2. Oh dear, my respect for David Tennant has fallen. Tunnock's Tea Cake against a Bakewell tart? I'll agree with his judgement of the Bakewell, but calling Twix sweet but not the much sweeter Tea Cake? Ghastly – the worst snack! Macaroni pie sounds braw, though.

    3. He should have had the macaroni pie I had in 1998 — came with an inch of grease on top, so it definitely wasn't dry, AND it came with a side of herby chips (herbs count as veg, right?) in case I felt there weren't enough carbs.

    4. How "Scottish' is Scottish Food?
Fun Fact: according to the BBC, "It could be fairly argued that the Italian community popularized the 'fish supper' in Scotland,

"Large numbers of Italian immigrants, mainly from Northern Italy entered the Scottish fish and chip trade from around 1890 onwards, by 1914 they dominated the trade and opened shops throughout Scotland.

"To this day most Scottish towns still have an Italian chippy, but their presence is strongest in the central belt, where it all began over 120 years ago."

Ice cream, was another area many Italians ventured into.

Former Ice Cream Alliance president Philip Mancini, whose family has operated a business in Ayr for almost 100 years, said it had become part of the fabric of society.

"It is part of Scottish culture, I think, in every wee town and village there is an Italian somewhere," he said.

"It has been an institution over the years. "It was a treat in days gone by, going to the Italian for an ice cream."

From those foundations many business have gone into more traditional Italian cuisine with hundreds of restaurants dotted up and down the country.
So, who needs to go to Agrigento for a cornetto when ye can got ta Ayr?
      😂😂

    5. An update from this episode – the outcome and response from Tunnocks 3 days ago. Tunnocks the legendary Scottish confectioner operates independently and primarily relies on its iconic heritage and grassroots campaigns rather than a formal celebrity frontman. However, the brand took notice of Tennant's interest, even holding public poll on social media platforms like Facebook Tunnock Fans to gauge whether fans prefer him, Ewan McGregor, or James McAvoy for the job. The public suggestions have been fun, Tennant, McGregor and McAvoy for different products such as Tennant's Teacakes, McGregor Snowballs and McAvoy Caramel Bar. 😊 There are suggestions of other people too.

    6. It's about time that Tunnocks made an appearance! I'm from the Caribbean, and let me just say that Scotland has given this Planet two incredible gifts: Sean Connery, and Tunnocks Caramel Wafer bars.

    7. Sorry to disappoint you all ..deepfrying weird things.. including candy bars is a thing invented in the states. Better if it can be put on a stick. This is state fair food.
