Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor didn’t support Prince Harry‘s marriage to Meghan Markle.
According to author Andrew Lownie, the former Duke of York gave his nephew a “warning” about marrying the Suits star.
During an appearance on “The Megyn Kelly Show” podcast, the expert claimed Andrew was one of many people within The Firm who thought the couple wasn’t well-suited and that Harry should carry out his “due diligence” before proposing.
“Andrew was one of the people who was saying that,” Lownie told Megyn Kelly. “He was a little bit more vocal about it than some of the others.”
“All the gossip in the royal household was about how unsuitable Meghan was and [how] it would all end in tears,” he said. “Everyone could see this was a disaster waiting to happen.”
While Andrew reportedly wasn’t Meghan’s biggest fan, neither was Queen Elizabeth II.
“Her Majesty had become wary of Meghan as an opportunist — was ‘on to her from the start,’ the aide said — and one with public relations skills that left the palace’s outdated press operation in the dust,” author Susan Page‘s claimed in her book,The Queen and Her Presidents: The Hidden Hand That Shaped History, via Fox News Digital.

In Hugo Vickers‘ new biography, Queen Elizabeth II: A Personal History via Sky News, the journalist said the late leader of England urged Harry not to rush down the aisle.
“The Queen herself suggested that Harry should wait a year,” the journalist penned.
“He did not take her advice. Instead, as we know, the wedding went ahead just over six months after the couple’s engagement,” he added.
The duo went on to marry in 2018. However, by 2020, they were stepping back from their roles as senior members of the royal family.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” Harry and Meghan in a statement.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the royal family and work to become financially independent, whilst continuing to fully support Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment,” they noted.
In 2021, the With Love, Meghan star and the Spare author sat down for a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they made shocking accusations about their relatives.
“In those months when I was pregnant [with Prince Archie]… we have in tandem the conversation of, ‘He won’t be given security. He’s not going to be given a title,’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born,” Meghan claimed.
“There were several conversations about it,” she claimed. “I think that would be very damaging to them. That was relayed to me from Harry. Those were conversations that his family had with him. It was really hard to be able to see those as compartmentalized conversations.”
The mother of two went on to allege that the institution failed to protect her.
“Had I really seen that that wasn’t happening, I would have been able to do more, but I think I wasn’t supposed to see it,” Meghan told the former talk show host. “I wasn’t supposed to know and now because we’re actually on the other side, we’ve actually not just survived but are thriving.”
The duo recently celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary, but according to a source, their relatives didn’t send well-wishes.
“The silence was very intentional,” an insider told journalist Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack page.
“There was no phone call, no private message, no peace offering — absolutely nothing,” the source claimed.
