A local filmmaker will debut her first documentary film this weekend in downtown Greeley.
“Living in Transition,” written and directed by Istana Castillo, features young transgender women across the country as they share their lives and relationships with family, friends and each other. The film runs from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Kress Cinema and Lounge, 817 8th Ave.
“Living in Transition” highlights transgender women in Greeley, Fort Collins, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Missouri, Portland, Oregon, Seattle and Bellingham, Washington, according to an event description.
Castillo is a local photographer who attended Aims Community College and has served as both a theater technician and MOSAIC Community Engagement Specialist at the college.
The documentary is produced by Thread 7, a media company comprised of northern Colorado artists, and distributed by Greeley-based BlackBox Arts Collective. Tickets are $10 and available at BlackBoxArtsCollective.com.
