In April, a pink, heart-shaped padlock appeared among the collection of “love locks” along Hoboken’s Pier C Park.
Initialed with a swirly “OR,” the lock was revealed to be a promotional lead-up to the new single “drop dead” — two months later, the release of Olivia Rodrigo’s third studio album is imminently approaching.
When Rodrigo released her debut single “drivers license” in 2021, the then-17-year-old Disney actress found herself in the midst of a nearly-instantaneous shift to the pop-culture limelight. Subsequently releasing her first album “SOUR,” she amassed a fan base of, most notably, young girls and women who found solace, catharsis and sincerity in her heartbreak ballads and pop-punk angst.
With her 2023 maturated, pop-rock release “GUTS,” her reach, influence and reign as one of the decade’s most prominent pop stars stretched and solidified.
Now, Rodrigo finds herself on the brink of releasing “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love,” with lead singles “drop dead” and “the cure” setting the tone for the record.

The release date for “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” is set for June 12, with “drop dead” and “the cure” having been debuted on April 17 and May 22, respectively.

The 13-song track list is separated into two subsections — “girl so in love” and “you seem pretty sad.”
Some song titles include “honeybee,” “expectations” and “cigarette smoke,” along with “begged,” which Rodrigo performed on Saturday Night Live on May 2 when she hosted and acted as the musical guest.

Rodrigo will commence “The Unraveled Tour” on Sept. 25, beginning in Hartford, CT, and concluding in Barcelona, Spain, on May 2. The singer will make two stops in Philadelphia, PA, on Nov. 7 and 8 at Xfinity Mobile Arena, along with a 10-show residency in Brooklyn, NY, on Feb. 11, 12, 15, 16, 19, 20, 23, 24, 27 and 28 at Barclays Center.
