Prince Harry is anticipated to be one of the most notable royal absences at today’s wedding of his cousin Peter Phillips.

The son of Princess Anne and his fiancée are marrying at All Saints Church, Kemble, Cirencester, on June 6, with a host of other senior royals in attendance.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are also expected to attend the wedding, but will likely depart soon after the ceremony ends to attend the Epsom Derby horse races more than 100 miles away in Surrey.

While many royal family members will be in the small town to celebrate Peter and Harriet, not everyone made the cut as there have reportedly been a number of people excluded from the guest list.

Unsurprisingly, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson were not invited, as they continue to be embroiled in the Epstein scandal.

It is not known whether an invitation was extended to Mr Phillips’s cousin Harry, Meghan and their children, amid reports the Sussexes were left off the guest list.

Harry and Mr Phillips were close when younger Harry is said to have “not spoken in years” to Peter, sources say the presence of his estranged brother Prince William and his wife Kate at the Cotswolds event will inevitably have played a part.

But the Daily Mail revealed that Harry’s strained relationship with Princess Anne’s son largely stems from an incident some 18 years ago.

Harry was reportedly furious following Peter’s first wedding to Canadian Autumn Kelly in 2008, after Peter struck a deal with Hello! magazine to sell exclusive rights for an estimated £500,000 ($667,150) without informing the family, reports the Mirror.

The prince was particularly upset because he had brought his then-girlfriend Chelsy Davy as a guest and had planned to introduce her to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, for the first time – a gesture widely seen as a sign their relationship was becoming increasingly serious.

While the prince was aware a photographer was present, he assumed the images were for Peter and Autumn’s private collection and had no idea they would ultimately appear in the magazine.

Harriet and Peter reportedly first met in spring 2024 at a sporting event involving their daughters from previous relationships. Just months later, the couple made their public debut together at the Badminton Horse Trials, where Harriet was seen mingling with Peter’s mother, Anne, and sister-in-law-to-be Zara.

Throughout the first year of their romance, the couple were spotted together at numerous high-profile social events, including Wimbledon and the Cheltenham Races.

Last June, they attended Royal Ascot together, where Harriet made her debut in one of the carriages during the royal procession – a move widely regarded as a significant indicator of her integration into the royal fold.

On August 1, 2025, the pair revealed their engagement following a year-long romance.

An official statement issued on their behalf declared, “Mr Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips and Ms Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr Rupert Sanders and Mrs Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement.

“Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement.”

The Express US has reached out to Prince Harry’s representatives for comment.
