Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s divorce settlement talks have collapsed, with the former couple now heading to court.

The former TV power couple announced their split in May 2024 after 27 years together, 14 of which were spent married.

Ruth and Eamonn, both 66, are now set to come face-to-face in an estimated £10million divorce battle, which is headed to the High Court.

The former This Morning couple have already attended hearings last June and in February.

They have both now reportedly hired top lawyers after being unable to reach a financial settlement over their joint wealth.

A source said that Ruth is seeking a ‘financial remedy’ in court. The case is now listed as Ruth Holmes vs Eamonn Holmes.

A source told The Sun: ‘A lengthy court battle is the last thing the couple wanted, but they just can’t agree.

‘It’s very sad but they are both prepared to fight for what they feel is rightfully theirs.’

Further details of the court battle are not publicly available, however it is understood that the trial could involve a personal fortune of around £5million.

The couple also own a six-bedroom home in Weybridge, Surrey, which they bought 12 years ago for £3.6million and is anticipated to have increased in value since.

The former couple share son Jack, 23, while Eamonn also has sons Declan, 35, Niall, 32, and daughter Rebecca, 34, from his previous marriage.

A statement at the time of their split said: ‘Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.’

Sources claimed that their work commitments ‘took them in different directions’ as they drifted apart in recent months, but they were determined to remain friends and ‘keep things amicable’.

TV personality Eamonn has had a difficult few months. In April, it is understood he was found slumped unconscious at home and rushed to hospital, appearing to have suffered from a stroke.

His son Declan Holmes provided an update on his father’s well-being, saying he was ‘doing ok given the circumstances’. Eamonn himself then took to social media to reassure fans.

He shared a photo of his granddaughters with a misspelt, handmade ‘get well soon’ card. In the caption he wrote: ‘‘As my beautiful Granddaughters put it so well – I will do my best to get well SOOM.’

Meanwhile, his girlfriend Katie Alexander – whom the presenter started dating after his split from Ruth – also posted her own message.

‘What a week. Prayer, prayer each day,’ she wrote on Instagram.

Eamonn has had ongoing health issues for several years, tracing back to 2012 when he suffered three slipped discs.

Metro has contacted representatives for Ruth and Eamonn for comment.
