It’s hard to picture anyone with Kate Middleton, also known as Catherine, Princess of Wales, except for her longtime husband Prince William. However, Kate has dated quite a few men before William (and somewhat in between when they were on a break). But now, it seems an old romance of hers is back in the spotlight after a run-in at a royal-packed wedding. (Was it an awkward encounter though? Let us explain.)

In case you missed it, in details obtained by Page Six, Kate and William attended the wedding of William’s cousin, Peter Phillips, and Harriet Sperling. Also in attendance was Kate’s ex Rupert Finch.
Now, when you hear about two exes being at the same event, it’s fine to automatically think it’s an awkward run-in, but that’s seemingly not the case.

Finch was in attendance with his wife, Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, and both of them were actually attendees at Kate and William’s wedding in 2011! (And Kate attended their wedding in 2013.) So no bad blood here, but the run-in has people wondering about Kate and Finch’s past romance.

For those who don’t know, Kate and Finch dated in 2001 when they were both attending St. Andrews. They dated for less than a year during Kate’s freshman year and Finch’s fourth and final year of studying law. Their romance was also briefly portrayed in the final season of The Crown.
