A body language expert has analyzed the royals after they attended the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling over the weekend.

This weekend, June 6, marked the first royal wedding in six years. Looking at images of the family arriving at All Saints Church in Cirencester, body language expert Darren Stanton highlights how Queen Camilla has become a “real rock” for the whole family in recent years.

He explains how the “confidence and self-assurance” she carries herself with helps to “steady” the family – as it has for Charles for years. This comes as Kate Middleton made a subtle dig at Meghan Markle with an “unheard of” move.

The expert, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, said, “Camilla, again, is displaying a great smile – a genuinely happy smile rather than a masking smile for appearances’ sake. She seems genuinely pleased to be there. She’s also giving an open-palmed wave, presumably to the crowd or perhaps to someone she’s recognised. Open palm gestures typically signal openness, honesty, and a desire for connection.

“Camilla has surprised a lot of people over the years because she’s become much more than simply Charles’s rock. She’s adapted remarkably well to life as Queen.”

He added, “She carries herself with confidence and self-assurance which helps steady the family. Again, we’re seeing genuine happiness and joy, along with a willingness to engage with people around her. The open palm gesture reinforces that sense of openness, authenticity, and connection. She is no longer just Charles’ rock, she seems to be a real rock for the whole family.”

Stanton also noted Princess Anne’s “authentic happiness and enjoyment” as her son and new wife Harriet Sperling showed signs of their “deep emotional connection.”

“Princess Anne, she’s always an interesting person to analyse because she’s not someone who suffers fools gladly. Even so, she’s displaying what we’d call a Duchenne smile here – a very authentic smile of happiness and enjoyment. With Princess Anne, what you see is what you get. Her shoulders are relaxed, the smile is genuine and authentic, and overall she comes across as a naturally confident person,” the expert shared.

He also pointed to how Kate Middleton’s “authenticity” continued to be on full display, and how this trait “draws people to her” and how the King greeting the crowds showed he is developing “a new level of confidence.”

According to the expert, on their big day, Harriet Sperling and Peter Phillips demonstrated their “deep emotional connection.”

“They’re standing very close to each other, with their body posture angled towards one another at the same degree, which suggests a deep emotional connection. Obviously, some of that is to be expected given that they’re getting married, but from a nonverbal perspective it’s still interesting to observe,” Stanton revealed.

He continued, “He’s clearly being protective with the umbrella, shielding her from the rain, and both are displaying genuinely happy smiles. He’s slightly more relaxed than she is, whereas she appears a little more on edge and perhaps a bit nervous. Fundamentally though, they seem incredibly close and come across as extremely genuine.”
