I still remember the smear campaign against Sinu Liu ag the time. I’m half Chinese (and a woman) and was in the same forum they were acting like only 8chan incels were in. So weird that Hudson is getting blamed for being drawn on at some frat party.

Listen I’m not saying there isn’t a hate campaign/astroturfing happening here but. Referring a pic where someone has a swastika drawn on them as “absolutely nothing” is wildly inappropriate and I am side-eyeing Simu Liu for that. There’s room to say “we hold people of color to a higher standard/the timing of this feels targeted” while still acknowledging that someone did something harmful in the past
Here’s an opinion he also highlighted on the topic
In my opinion, the microscope the Heated Rivalry actors have been put under and the hate they’ve received from basically the moment the show blew up, specifically Hudson, but also notably Francois Arnaud, is not okay. Targeting various things like their looks, past and current partners, families, sexualities etc.
The recent picture of teenage Hudson that was discovered and leaked was disappointing and a level of criticism is understandable. I think it’s important to acknowledge there is a loud and forceful group of people that seem hellbent on taking down only Hudson in particular though, by analysing everything he does now and anything he may have done or been linked to in the past, irregardless of context, and sometimes just making stuff up. I think Simu is calling out what he believes is a pattern
Also please note the person said “married to white supremacist respectability politics” not simply white supremacists lol

I get what he’s saying, and yes, but it’s also a lot to ask people to just ignore..

controversial opinion but being a poc doesn’t absolve you of your racism. it also doesn’t stop you from getting called out by media and fans when photos like that + your instagram with slurs for its username surface. i’m a poc too, but we do have to admit that there are poc who are racist toward other minority groups. i think that when you become a big enough celebrity, people are always going to take a look at your digital footprint and scour it for problematic takes or instances. we see this happen with white celebrities too. the problem here is why were you engaging in those behaviours in the first place? the photo was from 2018.

I get what he’s saying. He did and still does endure a lot of unfair scrutiny/treatment from the industry. Specifically how Marvel has treated his project is inexcusable.
However, I don’t think it would hurt Hudson to acknowledge the harm of both the Instagram and the picture. It’s his face. His team did not deny the hate symbol was on his face. It’s very hard to believe that he just didn’t know it’s on his face. And even if he didn’t know, he now knows and he can acknowledge the harm representing a N*zi symbol carries in 2026 even if you don’t personally associate with that ideology. All we are getting from him and his team are excuse after excuse.

How hard is it to not have a swastika on your forehead? I feel like that’s a pretty reasonable ask…
