Over the weekend, Michelle Zauner of Japanese Breakfast revealed that she is pregnant in the same way all of my favorite artists reveal their pregnancies — by showing off her stomach while performing onstage.
Zauner performed at Governors Ball 2026 in a bright-green Shushu/Tong set with her top worn open before later confirming the pregnancy on her Instagram with the caption, “jpreggie!” In an interview with Pitchfork at the festival, she explained that this was her “big baby bump reveal.” She noted, “It’s like my first time belly out.” She also told Cosmopolitan, “This is my third show with a baby bump, and it’s really empowering,” explaining, “It’s so fun to remind myself that I am something beyond just a vessel for life.”
Zauner has been married to her bandmate and guitarist Peter Bradley since 2014, and this will be their first child. It gives a whole new meaning to the song “My Baby,” doesn’t it?
