      What an effin’ moron and what a disingenuous apology.

      “Simone Biles, famous gold medal Olympian and wife of NFL player Jonathan Owens, nearly…” would have included that NFL tag easily while still placing her and her achievements first.

      The apology seems good here. It’s an NFL writer writing for an NFL audience so they framed the title in a very NFL-centric way. Definitely they should have had the title mention her Olympic pedigree first and the NFL connection second though and they acknowledged that.

      “Wife of” literally wasn’t even necessary. Not to mention I don’t even know who her husband is. I feel like she’s *much* more recognizable than he is.

      It’s rubbish he blatantly used her name to get the clicks – he could have put Olympic gymnast and NFL wife Simone Biles, but he chose to erase her achievements.

      Pilot Pete’s second choice is sharing about her husband getting traded for the 6th time while teaching her followers how to add Old El Paso seasoning to ground beef. The viewers are eating it up.

      It’s like everyone’s obsessed with WAGS. I think the non influencer wives are cooler. The Knick’s star player is married to a doctor. Myles Garret is dating Chloe Kim- another amazing Olympian. There’s something cool/humble about players having an accomplished wife, but the WAG content discredits them so much…

      I get the SEO thing and that he’s writing for an NFL outlet (and Sophia Bush is right that the algorithm is why we can’t have nice things). But sorry I DO NOT believe that it *never* occurred to him that it was reductive and insulting to refer to Simone Biles in this way. She could BURY him under her gold medals and the best he could come up with is “wife”? Lol no.

      Not even “Olympian and NFL Wife”?? Adding TWO words was simply impossible??

      Also lbr the title sucks anyway, misogyny and dumbassery aside. Are there no editors at Yahoo Sports?
