Here’s an opinion he also highlighted on the topic

In my opinion, the microscope the Heated Rivalry actors have been put under and the hate they’ve received from basically the moment the show blew up, specifically Hudson, but also notably Francois Arnaud, is not okay. Targeting various things like their looks, past and current partners, families, sexualities etc.

The recent picture of teenage Hudson that was discovered was disappointing and a level of criticism is understandable. I also don’t agree with Simu’s wording “absolutely nothing” because obviously that picture is offensive

However, I think it’s important to also acknowledge there is a loud and forceful group of people that seem hellbent on taking down Hudson in particular, and not his costars, by analysing everything he does and anything he might have done or been linked to in the past, irregardless of context, and attributing it to his character now. Editing pictures and clipping videos. Sometimes even just making stuff up. Coordinated attacks that seem fuelled by parasocial hate more than any desire for accountability of any actual, proven wrongdoing

Multiple things can be true at one time

    2. wasn’t simu cancelled for people finding his reddit posts where he was comparing pedophilia to homosexuality (it’s an honest question, i don’t remember it properly)

Honest question, if you’re drunk and people are writing and drawing stuff on your face, how are you supposed to know some jackass drew a fucking nazi swastika on your head

Like seriously, your priority isn’t going to be to find a mirror in that moment to see what’s been written/drawn

People would never give this much grace to female celebrities, that’s all I have to say
