Princess Kate broke her own wedding rule while attending the nuptials of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling on June 6 in Gloucestershire, with the mother of three arriving at All Saints Church in Kemble dressed in a new ensemble.

Kate looked stunning in a cream bouclé midi dress by Roland Mouret, which featured a statement collar, front buttons, a belted waist, and a pleated skirt. The look appeared to be a new purchase for the princess, breaking from her usual tradition of wearing old pieces when attending weddings as a guest.

Kate has stuck to this unspoken rule for years, so as to draw attention away from her and towards the bride and groom of the day. She has a long history of re-wearing old pieces when attending weddings, to ensure that the spotlight shines firmly on the newlyweds rather than on her sartorial choices.

She recycled her Alexander McQueen coat dress for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018, and donned a blush Elie Saab look for Crown Prince Hussein’s wedding to Princess Rajwa in 2023, after wearing the outfit at her sister Pippa Middleton’s wedding.

The shoe brand took to Instagram to confirm Kate’s love of the classic heels, writing: “HRH The Princess of Wales, spotted wearing our classic Malory pumps last week, having owned and worn this particular pair for over 10 years.”

“It is what makes Rupert Sanderson proud as a shoemaker to create something perfectly poised that endures, both in its craftsmanship and its styling. We continue to make the Malory pump as both a stock and made-to-order style – a timeless design, perfect for weddings and special occasions.”

Kate carried a woven clutch from Australian brand Forever New, which she has brought out on several occasions, and wore blush pink gemstone earrings from Kiki McDonough, one of her favourite jewellers. She previously wore the drop earrings at Pippa’s wedding in 2017, and at the Earthshot Prize Awards in 2021.

The royal completed the look by paying homage to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, with her three-strand pearl bracelet on her wrist.

The bracelet was designed by Nigel Milne as part of a charity collection to raise money for Birthright, a women’s health charity that Diana patronised.

Kate was just one of a bevy of royals in attendance at Peter and Harriet’s intimate wedding in Gloucestershire. Also there to celebrate the big day of Princess Anne’s son were King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, and Prince William.

Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, stopped by for the big day, as did Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
