I know the general list of celebs he is talking about but I need specifics god damn it.
As dystopian as the present is, I kind of appreciate how it has encouraged people to show themselves in both good and bad ways. Like when I see a video of Jerry Seinfeld being asked to say “Free Palestine” and he arrogantly chuckles and says, “It doesn’t exist,” I appreciate that because it’s a clear statement about who he IS as a human being, which then reframes his work for me. I prefer knowing the truth about people even when it disappoints me. Mark is good guy.

Generally speaking, Jews that take the perspective of Palestinians deserving this are basically fearful of the Holocaust happening again and basically have a “It’s us or them” mentality. There aren’t a lot of people in Israel and there aren’t really a lot of Jews in the world. So there is a real deep down fear of being wiped off the planet. There’s also a pretty standard understanding that antisemitism is very much alive and well. It’s easy to find pro Israel Christians that are pretty anti-Semitic.
With all that said, this still doesn’t justify the actions of Israel. The fact they’ve convinced themselves there is no middle ground here is extremely worrying.

I almost wish the members of my family who are pro-Israel had such cogent arguments. Instead, all I get is the same line on repeat, that, since the Palestinian people happen to be Muslim, they all deserve to die.
Like…. the world isn’t that black and white sis. But there’s no convincing them.
I can’t relate to them either. Between trump and netanyahu, I’ve discovered that I don’t know half the people I thought I did – and now I don’t ***want*** to know them – now that I know who they are. It’s been enlightening to say the least.
