Their "antics" throughout Baden-Baden in Germany made headlines, and they were even blamed for the England NT poor performance.

The Wags included Victoria Beckham at the top of the food chain, Cheryl Cole, Coleen Rooney, and Abbey Clancy among others.

iconic – as a teen during this time i wanted so badly to be them 😂

    2. I love how some people genuinely seem to think the Wags having a nice holiday in Baden Baden somehow made England lose 😂😂

Yeah, the wives out shopping and partying was definitely the problem with that World Cup squad, and not the players…

I love how they just look like normal, albeit pretty and wealthy, women. No uncanny valley twinsies. Jeans and a nice top. Boom.

    5. Honestly, bring back the WAGs. I’d argue they were the precursor to influencers on some level, and a hundred times more fun. They made the endless football season almost liveable.

On the one hand, some part of me is like yeah I wish that were me.

On the other hand that would mean I’d have to actually sit and watch at least one game of football in its entirety.

Is a Chanel Range Rover really worth that?

I miss the era is Cheryl Cole being EVERYWHERE. Truly a people’s princess throughout the late 2000’s and early 2010’s

    8. is it sad that I only recognize victoria Beckham?

but how is she a trophy wife? didn’t she make more than beckham at the start?

    9. I remember how ubiquitous Colleen Rooney And Cheryl Tweedy was during this time in the papers. This whole era of WAGS was even discussed on the news at six on the BBC if I remember rightly. I always felt bad for Colleen when the Daily Mail Weekend magazine had her on its front cover and did a write up about her wedding and said something along the lines of that she was pretty but not beautiful. That was such a horrible thing to say, especially when covering her wedding! Think she was only in her early 20s too!

The “trophy wives” subheading is certainly a choice. A tad demeaning given that both Victoria and Cheryl had extremely successful careers in their own right at this time but such was the tabloid vibe back then 🥲

    11. Well, I know what I’m doing tonight: rewatching Jordan Theresa’s Wagatha Christie video 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

Coleen Rooney! Stunning, she’s so beautiful!! Everyone looked so much more unique back then! Ahh take me back to the 00s!!

    13. It was a more innocent time, before Wagatha Christie brought about the downfall of Camelot.

    14. Twas a simpler time. I remember there being a soap opera like show based on this theme, Footballers` Wives and I think there was even a blog ? I used to frequent which featured hot soccer players. What a time.
