Ticket prices for the NBA Finals game 6 at Madison Square Garden are skyrocketing. Meanwhile, James Dolan’s MSG pays $0 in property taxes due to an exemption. It’s estimated MSG has have avoided paying ~ $1 billion property taxes since the mid 1980s.
We have got to stop subsidizing sports venues in any way.
The team/franchise is already a monopoly on that particular professional sport in that city – if a monopoly can’t turn a profit then … too fucking bad.

im not taking any stance on this topic obviously i believe they should pay taxes but i think the city knows the overall benefit of the knicks being in NY will allow for greater economic prosperity. ik this matters more for smaller cities that have sports teams.
but one thing to note is that the knicks valuation is one of the highest if not the highest because it’s also in NYC.

The People are the majority and through their votes, they seem to be totally fine with this.

Not the worst part about it but Trump couldn’t even be bothered to stay awake during an exciting game 😭
Loyal blue collar fans are the lifeblood of any team and all I’ve seen this Finals is Dolan shitting all over them. I’ll be happy for the fans if the Knicks win but god damn it will make Dolan so much more money and that will suck.

My hatred for James Dolan is the only thing making me want the Knicks to either lose this series or at least win it on the road.

People paying prices like this for pure entertainment just shows that there is room for massive – and I mean MASSIVE – luxury taxes on sports and concert tickets.

Those quoted prices are the resale cost.

This makes no sense at all, laws need to be changed and we need to vote for the people who are going to make it happen

LOL, it’s the perfect venue for Taylor Swift’s wedding. I hope they both get taxed by Mamdani.
