Shailene Woodley is a blonde! And I’m talking bright, light, bleached blonde. The actress was spotted on the set of her upcoming Hulu series Count My Lies alongside her co-star Lindsey Lohan—and, in a major transition from her previous look, Woodley’s hair was almost exactly the same shade of Barbie blonde.
It’s a big change for Woodley who has been wearing her hair in a very dark brunette hue since March. In fact, Woodley’s hair hasn’t been this blonde since 2017, when she famously sported a bright golden shade.

This is far from the first time that Woodley has switched up her hair for a role. Back in 2019, Woodley underwent another major hair transformation for one of her characters—for season 2 of Big Little Lies, her character Jane debuted a blunt set of bangs following the death of another major character, Perry.

“Whenever some major transition happens, not just a mediocre one but something life-defining and system-altering, I feel like we wear that transformation on our bodies,” she told Vogue, adding, “I felt like the hair was a way for Jane to almost reclaim who she was before Perry. A bang is a drastic change.”
Woodley’s latest bright blonde hair transition is also part of a character journey. In her upcoming project. In Count My Lies, based on Sophie Stava’s bestselling thriller novel of the same name, Woodley plays as Sloane, a compulsive liar who stars working as a nanny, for Violet, played by Lindsay Lohan. As fans of the book may recall, Sloane dyes her hair to match her employer—no wonder Lohan and Woodley look like blonde twins!
