The Royal Family will be making a grand appearance today in Windsor for this year’s Garter Day service.

The annual ceremony will take place at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, with the traditional procession highly anticipated by royal watchers worldwide.

The day will be filled with a fine display of pomp and pageantry as the Knights and Ladies of the Garter don velvet robes, glistening insignia and ostrich-feathered plumed hats for the hallowed ceremony.

Garter Day is a staple fixture in the royal calendar and comes just two days after the Royal Family were out in force to celebrate the King’s official birthday at Trooping the Colour during the weekend. I
