This is unbelievably infuriating and sadly not at all surprising. It’s so painful seeing stories like this everyday and knowing this is reality for girls and women no matter where you’re living.

The truest line ever spoken on game of thrones feels so relevant reading this:

I’m so sorry. 9 months? That bastard was accused of raping a 10-year-old girl nine months ago and they never even contacted him????
Poor Lyhanna. She deserved so much better —- just getting into the car of her friend’s dad after school.

      It’s absolutely disgusting.

I hope the appropriate officials are held accountable for not doing their fucking job. One girl is dead, how many were raped?????

This makes me think of Gisèle Pelicot. You would think the international coverage of that case would lead to reforms for abuse victims more broadly in France, but women and girls always have an uphill battle to climb when trying to get justice.

Gosh I hadn’t heard about this, that article was a devastating read. The father and brother also being rapists, the whole is rotten. The girls and women in their lives were failed. The pictures of Lyhanna are making me cry, she was a little girl.

I hope her killer faces real justice, and I hope somehow there is reform.

I’m gonna say it: I am not surprised.

The French justice/society has got to change.

Hearing these cases don’t surprise me at all considering the 1977 and the 1979 French petitions against age-of-consent laws were significantly supported by French intellectuals, doctors, and other “scientists” calling for abolition of the age-of-consent, including Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Michel Foucault, and the most p*do man ever in existence: Gabriel Matzneff.

Disturbing is not the right word. More like completely and utterly evil. English doesn’t have enough words to sustain what this is.

I am so saddened because this poor girl was failed.

Fuck these people. Fuck the Histoire de Melody Nelson (1971) album by Serge Gainsbourg. Fuck these men.

May she rest in peace. Men failed her.

    7. It’s ridiculous that in the year of 2026 sexual abuse cases against girls and women are still being treated appallingly by the powers that be.

    8. one thing I can’t stand about France is how lots of people are more focused on hating on North africans/Muslims/Black people than those ped*philes. A lot of them also stay silent when the criminal is a white man..

that is wild US authorities alerted them to CP material and the french authorities are like “meh”

    10. People have been protesting in major cities.. I really hope this horrible case will actually open the justice’s eyes but I have low hopes at the same time. Justice in France is rotten. Sentences are way too low, people do time and get out and repeat the cycle. Why should men stop doing this if there is barely any consequence???
