“Looked like her lifestyle” is a great way to say it and I think that applies to a lot of the old 90s romcoms. My favorite Zellweger romcom is prolly Jerry Maguire, and I think this basically applies there too.
It’s actually making romcoms unwatchable when we see like perfectly manicured and styled girls in architectural digest apartments talking about how they’re broke and a mess. It just ruins the effect and honestly loses charm.

Wasn’t a big plot point of the movie her trying to lose weight because she was so “fat” but she only weighed like 135 pounds?

Fantastic show, I remember thinking the marketing (trailers etc) around it at the time did it dirty, and in combination with a name that alone was enough to put some off if they didn’t know how – deconstructivist (?) it was – was a real shame. I used to recommend it to friends all the time and got so many die-hard converts 😂
