Construction of Donald Trump's White House ballroom is projected to cost $600 million, significantly more than the president has previously said, with taxpayers covering more than half that amount, according to a new report from the Washington Post, which cited internal government documents.

Trump has repeatedly said the ballroom under construction on the East Wing of the White House would cost $400 million, up from $200 million he estimated when the project was first announced in July 2025. From the outset, the president has said he will use private donations to cover the costs.

Clark Construction, the contractor hired for the ballroom, informed the White House on March 5 that the project had increased to $600 million, according to a project summary cited obtained by the Post, with $293 million coming from "private sources." Clark identified sources funded by taxpayers to cover the remaining costs: $155 million from the Secret Service, $149 million from the White House Military Office and $3 million from the Executive Residence.

When the FUCK does this end? When he bleeds us all dry?? I can only dream of what 600m would do for the people and yet we can’t have any of our own tax money for anything that would actually benefit us

Now I’m no general contractor but I feel like a $600 million construction project couldn’t possibly be done before the end of his 4-year term

If only there were a conclusion to draw from that inference, or at least something to speculate on

Do taxpayers pay for his diapers too? cuz according to my math that costs about $600 million as well.

How the fuck is it even possible to spend that much on a room, my mind cannot comprehend that

I work a full time job and can’t afford rent. He gets to use my tax money for a ballroom.

The French have burned buildings down for less than this. Just saying.

    8. USA could have universal healthcare and then some instead of this waste of money.

America can’t afford school lunch programs but we can afford a ballroom and bunker for entitled rich politicians

I’m sure a large portion of that is going directly into Trump’s pocket since he’s taking a cut of everything.

Another thing he’s going to do and you humans won’t do anything about it besides complain complain complain. When are u guys going to take matters into your own hands? When does this become enough to all of you?

Can someone who is smarter than me and maybe a lawyer explain how he’s allowed to continue building when a judge specifically ordered him not to? At what point does this end?

    13. I give up. I have too many family members who picked apart *everything* Obama and Biden did. This has to bother them but I don’t ask because they would do some stupid mental gymnastics to explain how it’s necessary or something. I hate here.

    14. 300 billion to scrape back a shittier version of Obama’s Iran deal, over 1 trillion in total costs long term related to the war in Iran. 300 million for his ballroom is just us leaving a tip

How was he allowed to tear things down when they don’t even know how they’re paying for it? I can’t believe this is barely even talked about. I don’t think I’ve seen any politicians speak out about it.

    20. I’ve become too jaded. Like, if this keeps crazy orange grandpa busy I think we just keep jingling the ballroom keys in front of him. Maybe he will forget about seizing Greenland if the ballroom is shiny enough.

Why does he look like he’s always trying to keep a large dump from soiling his pants?

Oh, right. Because he always is.

    26. Is there anything stopping the next (Dem) president from tearing it down?

That’d be a very symbolic, and cathartic, action to take.

    27. lol at half. We are all going to pay for all of it and he’s going to pocket millions from his contractors kickbacks.
