As 1 of 9 children myself, I can imagine how emotionally neglected he was. Let alone being the same age as 7 of your siblings. It was probably hell.

I remember when he and his siblings were born … this poor kid. The cover is really powerful.

What a cover, wow. Good for him for putting this in writing. I hope he makes a lot of money off of it, not that it will fix anything. I’m interested to read it.

I didn’t watch a lot of the Gosselin’s reality show but I feel like it’s my duty to buy his book to support him. It’s obvious to me now how exploitative reality TV was (and YouTube today is) but I was ignorant of it then. Those poor kids.

I’ll be reading this. Poor Collin. I hope he’s able to heal and have a thriving adulthood.

People always joked that reality show kids would someday write tell alls.
It’s crazy how this has all evolved. From the Gosslins to family vlogging channels. You would hope we’d learn something and not allow children to do reality tv/youtube.
I’m glad Collin is going to get to tell his story.

Super curious, if he provides any perspective on his dad‘s role in all of this, in social media, he seems to ignore any comments about that.

is this the one that kate always made out to be the “bad one” on the show? good for him! she also institutionalized him for no reason.

This just reminded me, has any of the octomom kids spoke out (shouldn’t they been teens/young adults now?) I feel so bad for all basically every kid tlc had on in the 2000s

Can’t believe John doesn’t get the same amount of flack as Kate. Just watching the show I’m exhausted for her, John was her 9th child. Not saying it excuses her cruelty, but John is also guilty.

Are these kids weslthy from the show?

My nosy ass is reading this, but I also remember his harrowing account of being institutionalized a few years ago. I was in middle school when Jon & Kate Plus 8 came out, but even then, never understood the enormous hype. I hated that we were making people famous just for having a bunch of kids that they were shoving cameras in front of. Not surprising to me at all that it’s come to this, but I can’t wait to hear his story and hope that writing this was healing for him.

I hope this makes him enough money to get the help he must need.
This was such a terrible, abusive situation that the parents should have never allowed it to happen.
It also makes me wonder where the network is in all of this. With advertising, the network presumably made much more money than the family ever did. I’m sure the contracts are impossible to get around, and even just that is nightmarish

I feel for these TLC kids, but at the same time I’m curious to hear their stories.
I kinda worry about the Busby quintuplets (the show called Outdaughtered), I hope those girls turn out ok.

Collins was always deemed the trouble maker of the 8 kids.
I wonder what his book is gonna cover. Seems interesting, I may want to pick a copy up myself.

I admit, I will be listening to this. Watched the psecials, then show with my parents back in the day and always thought something wasn’t right. Same with Little People Big World and Sister Wives. TLC is a shitshow.

I used to defend Kate a lot – that a lot of things could be just a strong personality, stress from having so many kids, having Jon as a partner who was very much the oppositebof her parenting style (that she took the flack because she was getting things done and keeping them organised).
However, her abandonment of Collin without visiting him or informing his father made it clear that she was not just getting a bad edit.
I do feel like Jon does also bear responsibility for the kids – he signed over rights to block them from appearing on tv to avoid having to pay child aupport. He also invited paps to custody exchanges and opened the van door so they could film the kids crying that he was leaving.
