So happy to see he’s doing well. Rooting for him!!

In this video he just posted to Instagram, he says he’s been doing well. He has been in rehab and got diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which he says he’s always suspected but never wanted to look into because of the meds. Also makes a joke about already being black and gay, and now this, so living life on extreme hard mode. He has a therapist and psychiatrist, and is creating freely and working on new music.

In a completely non parasocial way, i really love him and hope for his happiness and success in life in general. He just seems like such a good and positive human and i do enjoy his music even if i don’t follow it a ton.

In short, good for him getting help and coming back stronger than ever. Keep shining.

Edit: To the wonderful person that awarded this comment, thank you 💜 You’re just proving my theory about kindness seeking kindness and i hope your day is wonderful and your pillow always cool and comfortable. Heck, may you find a $20 in every pocket from here on out!

As a neurodivergent black guy who still suffers from internalised homophobia and a slew of mental health issues a year after being diagnosed with the double whammy of ADHD/Autism and reconciling with my bisexuality, I have a real soft spot for lil Nas X. He’s carrying the banner for all the neurodivergent queer black men out there who always felt out place. God Speed lil nas X. I hope you make a full recovery and bless us with some great music when the time is right ✊️.

This was a really good message to hear! He looks good, he seems healthy, and I hope the best for him!

On another note, he still feels like a new artist. I can’t believe “Old Town Road” came out in 2018.

      Let’s go, Montero!

he’s so real for mentioning the intersectionality at play. he’s right, the stigma for being black, gay, AND bipolar is really fucking hard. happy he is putting in the work to heal and grow, wishing him nothing but good things!!!

From a PR standpoint point of view this video is great. Showing the bright blue sky and his bright smile; talking honestly about where’s he’s been and what’s going on with him. It’s open, honest, and looking toward a brighter future. Not hiding from the past. I hope he keeps shining.

His manager/PR/whomever encouraged him to do this deserves as raise. Maybe he had no help? But, I bet he did. It’s way better than some statement put out by management.
