Why The Girl Next Door’s Elisha Cuthbert Stepped Away From Hollywood | E! News

Elisha Cuthbert is back in the spotlight. The ‘Every Year After’ actress is sharing insight into why she took a four-year break from acting before landing a role in Prime Video’s new hit TV series based on Carley Fortune’s popular book series. “I realized I worked all four years through our first child and it was really hard,” Cuthbert—who shares two kids with husband Dion Phaneuf—confessed during her June 17 appearance on ‘Today,’ “to separate that mom from the working person I was. So, when we had our second, I just felt like I didn’t want to waste any second of it and I didn’t want to be on set.” The 43-year-old—best known for starring in ’00s films like ‘The Girl Next Door’ and ‘Old School’ as well as hit TV shows including ’24’ and ‘Happy Endings’—added, “I just felt like I needed to be at home with the kids and I enjoyed every minute.” Full Story: https://www.eonline.com/news/1433092/why-girl-next-doors-elisha-cuthbert-stepped-away-from-hollywood

    1. Happy Endings was an all time great show. I saw the Girl Next Door here on YouTube. She was stunning. Still, that movie has aged like unpasteurized milk. No wonder that genre died an abrupt death.

    2. She is still so cute. She was a leading actress of her time. I can see theres a lot of work done on her face but thats showbiz you cant diss an actor for that. Hope her comeback is as successful

    3. I really don’t blame her, she likely made millions in her 20s and married an NHL superstar who also made millions. She is set for life, why miss your baby’s formative years to be in the sort of B and C tier stuff she was landing before her “break”

She, if anything, will be the Winona Ryder of her generation who had a bright burst early in her career, gets forgotten, then returns in some iconic “mom” role.

    4. I am 44 years old I was born in March 21st of 1982. I did not know she had done anything since the girl next door in 2004. That is how aware I am.
