Robin Williams in why ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ didn’t need a happy ending: ‘99 out of a 100 people don’t get back together once they separate, it doesn’t a have a happy ending but it’s a real ending (…) getting back together is a negative fantasy, especially for children’

Wow, in 20 seconds Robin Williams made this movie go from kind of creepy to deep.

Man I miss Robin Williams. Aside from being funny and a class act, he was also so wise and insightful.

Always been my favorite thing about this movie. “This is hard and confusing and painful but its going to be ok” is a far healthier message than a reunion or even worse the “xyz difficult issue is great actually lets not talk about the downsides ever 🤪” approach so much kids media takes these days.

I love how the Mrs. Doubtfire monologue at the end is targeted directly to children. It’s such a comforting, emotionally mature way to broach this topic in a way that helps them to process and accept such a challenging and confusing life change.
