Palmito Ranch was a battle in the Civil War that happened after Robert E Lee surrendered. Some Texan Confederates refused to accept a loss, so the war continued there. Palmito Ranch was a Confederate victory, after the official end of the war…not saying this is necessarily the history we want to celebrate, but you could probably rile up some people by saying this will erase Confederate history. People love to cling to these battles, more than they want to fight against billionaires or for nature. Find the cause they will back and get them on the side of protecting the land.
