The opening of Hermès Maison Bond Street was celebrated with a garden cocktail party at The Hurlingham Club in London.

Pattern Play Perfected
Jenna Coleman wore a richly patterned Hermès look which was the standout of the night for me. It would have been easy to get lost in that intricate print, especially when layered with the matching coat, but I don’t feel like she was overwhelmed by it. Some might disagree.

Minimal Pieces, Maximum Impact
Sheila Atim wore the same Hermès motif, but in a much more pared-back form. Now that you’ve seen both looks, some might feel that Sheila and Jenna should have swapped outfits. I disagree. Jenna’s softer presence suited the decorative head-to-toe statement, while Sheila’s striking stature and confidence allowed the simpler silhouette to shine. I think the right look went to the right wearer.

Harnessing The Wrong Energy
Erin O’Connor’s earthy-toned Hermès look had potential, but the leather harness proved to be a distraction. I also can’t overlook the all-black accessories, which felt disconnected from the warmth of the brown palette.

Relaxed Luxury
See how Josh Hartnett’s shades of brown and beige feel so much more harmonious? Embracing the laid-back side of Hermès dressing, the effortless silhouette and tonal colour palette were exactly what made this look appealing.

The Modern Bomber
Jay Lycurgo kept things sleek in a leather bomber jacket. The contrast stitching elevated the jacket, while the proportions kept the look contemporary. It was simple, clean and effective.

Leather With A Softer Touch
Leather isn’t usually Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s go-to fabric, but this sleeveless Hermès leather dress felt entirely in keeping with her elegant style. The streamlined silhouette and subtle belt detail softened what could have been a much tougher look, resulting in something refined and easy to wear.

A Familiar Hermès Face
I don’t know if Toheeb Jimoh is officially part of the Hermès family, but he wears the brand often enough to make a convincing case. This look captured the understated luxury that the house does so well. The tonal palette, relaxed tailoring and subtle logo treatment felt entirely in keeping with his usual style.

Modern Separates
Lucy Halliday wore a navy ribbed Hermès two-piece look which stood out thanks to its clean lines and contemporary design.

Effortless Pairing
Daniela Norman and Tom Blyth arrived looking subtly coordinated without colour matching. Her neutral separates delivered a strong summer look, although I wish she had opted for sandals instead of the boots. His open-knit polo and wide-leg trousers echoed the relaxed sophistication that ran through much of the evening. Together, they felt perfectly in step with the Hermès aesthetic.
