Tom Holland and Zendaya are on a world tour promoting the upcoming premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The couple has made stops in Madrid, Spain, and Berlin, Germany, ahead of the superhero movie’s July 31 U.S. theater release.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the film also stars Jon Bernthal, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Mark Ruffalo.

“It’s a BRAND NEW DAY for Peter Parker,” reads the logline for the fourth installment of the superhero movie. “Fighting crime full-time as Spider-Man in a world that doesn’t remember him—and the pressure of seeing his old friends move on without him—sparks a change in Peter he may not have the power to control. But that transformation might also be the only thing that can stop a shocking new threat to the city and those he loves – a powerful villain no one can even see. The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.”

On his return to playing the Spider-Man role, Holland said in the YouTube series Flip Your Wig, “I’m obviously over the moon and so excited. Playing Spider-Man is like hanging out with an old pal. And I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of Covid; we shot the entire film on stages.”

Holland said that for this film, they were going to “lean into that old-school filmmaking and shoot in real locations, which is why we’re starting in Glasgow and we’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow to build this massive set-piece that we’re putting together.”

“So it’s gonna feel like making [2017’s] Spider-Man 1 again,” he added. “It’s been such a long time since I’ve done it, it’s gonna feel like a breath of fresh air, and I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”
