Being silent is political, everything is a political stance. This shows me he’s just ok with not speaking his mind or speaking out against injustice. If you are privileged enough to have a stage, you have an obligation to speak your mind.
People say this as though it’s not just basic human decency to say things like “we shouldn’t cage people for not being white” or “humans deserve housing, food, and medical care.” Unless you’re afraid of speaking up because you prefer a political party that vehemently disagrees.

Not taking a side is still a position. It signals comfort with the current state of things, or at least a preference for escapism over engagement.
Fans go to his shows to be entertained, not lectured, sure. But in today’s climate, where everything from ticket prices to venue choices to song themes can carry political weight, “no politics” is still making a statement about priorities.
Look guys, all he gives a shit about is money. He is free to think less of his family, friends, countrymen, civil rights, general compassion, religious code, morale expectations, and self-reflection. He’s got to get that money!
