After years of the internet bullying Blue Ivy as a child, Beyoncé reveals the reason Jay Z grew out his hair was to inspire Blue because she didn’t feel confident with her hair texture as a child.

i might not respect jay-z that much, but this is pretty dope and i hope this continues to be an example 💗

    2. I’m glad he did that for his daughter.

Feel however you feel about Beyonce but it was fucking weird that so many people thought it was okay to speak on a black girl’s hair as a baby. And it’s fucking weird the way black hair continues to be scrutinized.

    3. Miss Deranged Minaj swore it was a lacefront though.

If nothing else, Jay-Z’s hairstyle in the past few years has made it quite apparent who is and isn’t familiar with Basquiat.

However Jay may fail as a husband and as a man, he seems to be a good father who loves his children.

The fact people felt it was ok to bully a child about her hair is heartbreaking

This is sweet, but I still think Jay-Z is a creep and a loser. He’s probably a good dad, but that doesn’t negate what I dislike about him.

    8. learning that the references to black hair and beauty on Lemonade are there to show her daughter she’s perfect… like damn girl

This is very wholesome, but so sad that a CHILD has to be bullied. As a biracial child (native and black) my grams gave me diverse hair styles. I was bullied for that and so much more as a child in white areas. It still sits in me, but I don’t stand for it in person. Your soul never shakes that voice from your childhood. My dad was a raging racist and self hater, so he and my mom were my first bullies, and I would have done anything to have them stand with me.

I know it’s a personal choice but I really like it when women keep their natural hair texture. I come from SA and there is no one size fits all when it comes to what makes a woman’s hair beautiful.

I don’t care for Jay Z but the fact he did this for his daughter is very sweet. It breaks my heart that people feel it’s ok to hide behind a keyboard harass a child online just because they have famous parents. Perez Hilton was notorious for that too.

as a black woman I find this both cute and infuriating. I cant help be see the insanity of how this girl, whose parents are some of the richest and most famous people in the world, is STILL feeling low about her….hair? something totally natural and normal? Even her immense privilege couldn’t prevent her from feeling bad about it? we need to question the insane rhetoric that created this situation for her (And for us)

I mean you could inspire your child and lead by example by not cheating on their mother multiple times in their lives but sure..do this instead.

This is why I don’t wear weaves or wigs and wear my hair natural. It was important to me to embrace my hair the way it naturally grows and looks. When I have children, I want their first view of normal to be what they see around them represented through me.

Yes, it’s not always convenient and it’s a lot of work but to me it’s so worth it

Bullying a child is wrong. I don’t care for Beyoncé at all but you don’t bully a kid.

    17. My niece is mixed, Black/Puerto Rican/Italian, she’s 6 now. Since she could understand I have always told her hair is beautiful. I have made sure that she loves her hair even if it’s not like her moms or grandmas. She got braids for the first time this summer and she walks around like she’s a model. When people would comment about her when she was little, we would always correct them. One tell them to mind their own business and then make sure they weren’t talking around her. It’s crazy what people will say about kids.

I remember people creating a petition to make Beyonce “comb Blue Ivy’s hair”. It was surreal.
