Love Island viewers were left disappointed this Tuesday (23 June) after the show’s latest Heart Rate Challenge returned without its usual Fire Pit setting, sparking debate among fans on social media such as X.
This Tuesday’s instalment of the ITV2 dating series saw Lorenzo receive a text informing the islanders that the boys would be taking on the girls in the returning challenge, designed to see which contestant could raise the most heart rates through a series of flirtatious dances and performances.
As always, the Villa quickly split into competitive camps, with Ellie making a striking entrance in a bold red outfit that left Finley visibly stunned. The girls set an early tone for the challenge, while the boys prepared to respond in kind, sitting in chairs in the garden.
Despite the usual anticipation surrounding the challenge, many viewers were quick to point out the segment did not take place as it usually did. And they were quick to react to the more contained set-up.
One viewer wrote: “I hate these plastic chair performances that they make them do now. What happened to the fire-pit?!” Another added: “WHY did they move the heart rate challenge from the fire pit to this weird chair lineup? It’s so dead,” as a third fan echoed: “Why are they on chairs and not at the fire pit?? Why are we broke island now.”

Away from the challenge, tensions continued to simmer following an earlier game of Never Have I Ever, which ended in an icy exchange between Aidan and Tina, as he struggled to grapple his feelings for Yasmin.
The aftermath saw Jasmine, Mica, Samraj and Kavan discussing the incident on the Sundeck, though the conversation quickly became strained. Jasmine attempted to express support for Tina, but repeated interruptions from Kavan caused friction, eventually prompting her to firmly assert herself and tell him to stop interrupting her.
Jasmine and Kavan’s relationship seemed to struggle even further when he responded in a seemingly dismissive manner. “Oh, chill out Jas,” Kavan said, leaving Jasmine to set the record straight. “Don’t tell me to chill out, Kav. I’m being serious… don’t ever do that again,” she warned.

Elsewhere, Simba tried to smooth things over with Tommy following a separate disagreement, but their chat by the fire pit became increasingly tense, with neither islander willing to fully back down. Still, the lads managed to move past their differences in later scenes.
While this Tuesday’s instalment ended in good spirits, with the girls gearing up to see what the boys have prepared for the Heart Rate Challenge. But there’s more trouble ahead – viewers have been asked to take part in a public to save their favourite islander, and the results could change everything in the Villa.
