BET Awards 2026: D’Angelo Honored With Tribute Performance By RAYE, Ari Lennox and MORE
Raye, Ari Lennox, George Clinton and BJ The Chicago Kid all honored the late D’Angelo with a performance at the 26th BET Awards, which aired live on BET. Ari also spoke to ET’s Kevin Frazier backstage after the performance, where she called it a ‘full-circle moment.’

People need to grow up and stop trashing the tribute because it's the thought that counts and he damn sure wouldn't be given a tribute or even recognized for his music contributions on those other mainstream awards shows. Of course we always think of music artist that could have done it better, but guess what, these are the artists that agreed to do it and actually showed up. We have no idea what went into making that tribute happen. I’m quite sure people wanted to see Jay Z and Alicia Keys perform Empire State of Mind together, but only Alicia Keys showed up at the Knicks championship parade celebration. You can't always have it all, especially when it involves celebrities. 🙄

There's no one like D'Angelo, it's hard for people to emulate his sound/voice the way fans remember, kudos to those that tried. RIP D'Angelo, you are sorely missed.
