The performance, Red Sky at Sunrise, will be held at The Sub Rooms in Stroud on Friday, July 17 as part of the Stroud Arts Festival’s 80th anniversary celebrations.
The show blends spoken word and live music to explore the life and work of the Gloucestershire-born poet and author.
Lesser – who is known for roles in Game of Thrones and Andor – was recently cast as Garrick Ollivander in the new HBO Harry Potter series
Blending spoken word with live music, the production follows Lee’s remarkable journey from his Gloucestershire childhood to his experiences during the Spanish Civil War.
Highlighting Lee’s engaging humour, as well as his darker side, in a performance that has startling resonance with modern events, on the eve of this 90th anniversary of the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War.
Mr Lesser will be joined by actor Charlie Hamblett and the Orchestra of the Swan, with a score featuring Britten, Holst, Elgar, Turina, Albéniz, and Falla.
Spanish guitarist Mark Ashford will also perform.
The performance is among this year’s festival highlights and promises an evening of powerful storytelling.
