    Chris Atkins, Director of James: Getting Away With it, said: “I discovered James at my lowest ebb while languishing in Wandsworth prison. I’ve since been obsessed with the story of this extraordinary band, who have the most unbelievable history of struggles and wrong turns, and are now revered all over the world.” 

    James: Getting Away With It had its world festival premiere at SXSW London 2026 and will receive a one-night-only theatrical premiere at Aviva Studios, Manchester, on Monday, 17 August, featuring a live performance by the band, and Q&A.  

    The above will then be broadcast live to approximately 250 cinemas across the UK & Ireland, and select international markets. 

    James’ chart success is evident, with two Number 1 albums and a host of Top 10 singles, cementing them as a gem in the UK music crown. 

    James: Getting Away With It is directed by Chris Atkins and produced by Ian Neil and Chris Atkins, with executive producers Marc Robinson, Adam Barker, Neil Hughes, Peter Rudge and Charles Auty. 

    The film is co-produced by Globe Originals and Cart Before Horse Productions, and distributed by Mercury Studios and RipplaStudios.

    When is James: Getting Away With It out in cinemas and how can I get tickets?  

    The film will be given a one-night-only theatrical premiere screening at Aviva Studios, Manchester, on Monday, 17 August with a live broadcast to 250 cinemas.  

    Tickets will go on sale on Monday, 6 July.
