Matt Smith has hilariously slammed his flop movie Morbius. The Marvel flick became an infamous failure when it was released in 2022, making just over $167.4 million, and was also roundly slated by critics, attracting only 15% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
The House of the Dragon star plays villain Lucien/Milo Morbius in the film opposite Jared Leto’s titular vampire, and has poked fun at the movie while appearing on Brittany Broski’s Royal Court.
After the host brought up an anecdote about Keanu Reeves being caught watching Morbius on a flight, Smith exclaimed: “F**k off! You are joking.

“I love Keanu Reeves… what a movie star! He just looks like an angel. If you were to get a guardian angel in life, please god let it be Keanu Reeves.”
Bringing it back to Reeves’s Morbius watch, Broski then questioned what Smith watches on flights, the star quipping: “Not f**king Morbius, Jesus Christ! My god, he really must’ve gone through the BA library to be getting to that.”
When Broski suggested the Matrix star may have been drunk, Smith proposed that he could have been “having a moment”.
“He’s on the valium or something,” he joked. “God. No but what a legend, I love Keanu Reeves, I just want to make that really clear.”

This isn’t the first time that Smith has responded to Morbius’ flop status, suggesting around the time of its release that “it was thrown under the bus”.
“But you just have to roll with it. What else are you gonna do?” he told Rolling Stone. “It’s a film, at the end of the day. We’re not saving lives. For whatever reason, it didn’t quite work out and… It is what it is.”
Smith can currently be seen reprising his role of Daemon Targaryen in the latest season of House of the Dragon, which is airing at the moment.
