I mean, it didn’t exactly help that he screamed at a boom guy during the production of Terminator: Salvation. Just a thought.

The look isn’t disappointment–it’s surprise over what he actually sounds like!

    3. In general fans are so weird because they spend their lives disconnected from celebrities and they graft entire personalities and beliefs on to them, and then when they’re not the person they’ve fetishized them to be, they get mad. Bale could be a completely normal and fine dude, but I think he makes a good point about celebrities never being the person some have fantasized them to be.

I’ve always thought if I ever came across him in real life I would probably just piss him off because I couldn’t resist quoting the “oh GOOOOD for you” thing to him

Lol at the end of the clip he very nearly said “Never meet me, and I never want to meet fans” but realised it would have made him sound like an asshole so changed it to “I never want to meet my heroes”.

My husband and I quote “And why the fuck are you walking through: ah-da-da-da-dah!?” all the time.

    7. Ironically that’s exactly the type of comment that would make me want to meet him.

Id just want to listen to his angry song with him and discuss Tom cruise. I used to have such a huge crush on him.

    9. Love the honesty, but I’m worried that this could be an excuse to ignore fans and more. I’m not trying to legitimize those who have parasocial relationships with their fave celebrities, but I find it touching when I see those who actually like to meet their fans because they know their support is the reason why they manage to live a comfortable life..

    10. ‘Nobody can be a hero all the time’, honestly makes me respect him more, he has the self awareness many are lacking

I mean I’m very familiar with Christian Bale and what he looks like. But if I saw him on the street I would never even know it’s him. Especially in the UK

I met him on the set of The New World, where I did a few dailies in the location department at Hatfield House.

He was very unassuming, and in fact I didn’t even realise he was stood next to me to watch the final shot of the film until another friend in the locations department pointed it out.

Seems like a completely normal, private, down to earth person who just happens to be one of the best actors of his generation.

    13. This is a very diplomatic way of asking fans not to approach him.

I already have full respect for celebrities who just come oht and say it but spinning it as for the fan’s own good is quite clever.
