      Itā€™s incredibly disturbing that one ā€œā€ā€traderā€ā€ā€ can manipulate Spotifyā€™s free streams so easily in order to make some cash on a fake market that creates nothing of value and shouldnā€™t even be allowed to exist.

      And itā€™s so unethical how people can bet on things where thereā€™s tons of people who have insider information ā€” like betting on who attends a wedding or when an album will be announced is not something that should be allowed because there are lots of people who can find out that info and then make money off of it or sell it.

      There has always been a 3rd party pay-for-play market on Spotify. Most of these services have been taken down, but some still remain. But Spotify itself now has discovery mode, which allows artists to pay 30% of their streaming royalties to Spotify in exchange for better placement on algorithmic playlists and Spotify radio.

      Iā€™m sure there are services for bigger artists that arenā€™t available to smaller artists. The numbers for some of the big artists are ludicrous, and would only make sense if a large number of streams are botted.
