“The government has issued a stern notice to Meta over child sexual exploitative and abuse material appearing in paid advertisements on Instagram,” a senior official in India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology told the BBC.”

I think maybe this calls for something other than a “stern notice”

“It comes after a BBC Eye investigation found that Instagram has been [running paid adverts](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvgm4e0316zo) promoting child sexual abuse material in India, some of which linked users to Telegram channels where the material was offered for sale.

The government has also sought an explanation within a week on how advertisements containing such material were allowed on the platform, the official said.”

    3. The hell did I just read!? That this goes on unchecked and has to be ordered removed is absolutely unthinkable!!

    4. What if we all just quit using it… I did, my kids did. Why is that so radical an idea?

They should start arresting meta execs for this crap. Meta and Google and other ad companies allow all kind of bullshit ads including scam and now scam for years. They need to crack down hard on these ad companies.

So Meta has just completely given up all pretenses and are proving they are a company catering to, and profiting off, predators – there is abuse on all their platforms and they are actively designing tools and products to make abuse easier.

This is disturbing, Instagram/FB has always had a problem with CSAM and Meta is never held liable. So many pages promote the distribution or even post CSAM but Meta does absolutely fuck all to actually stop it. Meta is geniunely an evil corporation
