“It is with profound sadness that we issue this statement following the conclusion of Morvala Festival of Arts / Kenowfornia Festival.

Following recent financial developments and a full review of the company’s overall financial position, Gracenote Promotion LTD has taken professional advice and has been left with no responsible alternative but to begin the process of entering liquidation, as the company is insolvent.

This is not a decision we have chosen to make. We have been left with no other option. The financial position of the company is completely unrecoverable, and there is no responsible or realistic course of action that would allow the business to continue trading.

The company will now enter a formal liquidation process. Throughout that process, we will fully cooperate with the appointed insolvency practitioner, provide all information requested, and do everything required of us to ensure the process is handled properly and transparently.

Once a liquidator has been formally appointed, all known creditors will be contacted directly as part of the liquidation process and kept informed in accordance with the relevant insolvency procedures.

To every artist, supplier, contractor, freelancer, member of staff, volunteer and every individual or business who worked so incredibly hard to make Morvala possible, we are so deeply sorry.

We know many of you placed your trust in us. Many of you committed months of work, invested your own time and resources, supported us through an incredibly ambitious project and believed in the vision we were trying to create.

The fact that so many of you are now facing financial loss is something that weighs incredibly heavily on us.

Morvala Festival of Arts was created because we genuinely believed Cornwall deserved something different – a festival built around music, art, literature, wellbeing and community that could become a lasting part of the county’s cultural landscape for many years to come.

Kernowfornia was created because we believed Cornwall deserved ambitious, independent live music events that celebrated our county, showcased incredible artists and brought people together through music, community and shared experiences.

Although our journey has come to an end far sooner than we ever imagined, we remain immensely proud of what Kernowfornia achieved and the community that grew around it.

To every artist, supplier, contractor, volunteer, member of staff and supporter who helped bring the festival to life – thank you. None of it would have been possible without your belief, hard work and commitment.

Every decision we made was driven by that belief.

As organiser and director of Gracenote Promotion LTD, I have also suffered devastating personal financial consequences. Having personally guaranteed a number of the company’s financial obligations, I have been left with no choice but to enter into personal bankruptcy, the consequences of which will remain with me for many years to come.

The collapse of the company has left me personally financially ruined alongside the business itself.

This is not the outcome any of us ever imagined, nor one we ever believed would happen.

Every decision we made was driven by a genuine belief that we were building festivals with a long and sustainable future – creating worthwhile, independent events that Cornwall could be proud of for years to come.

At no stage did we ever believe the company would fail. Every ticket sold, every artist booked, every supplier engaged and every pound spent was done in the genuine belief that we would continue trading successfully and meet every one of our obligations. The company’s insolvency has left us unable to do so, and for that I am profoundly sorry.

I know that words cannot undo the disappointment, frustration and financial loss that many people are now experiencing.

No statement can undo the disappointment, frustration and financial hardship that many people are now experiencing.

All I can say is that I am truly, deeply sorry for the position in which so many people now find themselves.”
