I hope it shuts down forever and the victims get justice. Paris has detailed her time in the troubled teen industry extensively and has been fighting it legally. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything good about these schools. They kidnap, torture, and hold minors hostage.

Good, but for it to have been 50 years and people have complained, it’s insane that it took this long.

It’s about time.

edit to add – Paris is trash but no one deserves to be treated that way, *especially* children.

You should not get a second chance after legitimate abuse allegations. You should not get the benefit of the doubt. We are so ready for businesses especially to not be able to cause harm

This literally may be the only truly positive thing for humanity Paris has done in her life so she should be commended for that. All that money and fame and she’s finally managed to do something that doesn’t make her seem like a shitstain on society…

I went to one of these schools. It’s been 12 years of watching children enter them with mental health issues and leave broken, shattered husks. However bad you think it is, your worst case scenarios cannot even come close. I saw grown men call 13 year old girls such vile names I cannot even repeat them. I watched as a friend of mine suffered a psychotic break and hallucinated their abusive ex beat them while we were forced to stand back and watch. I was trapped in a coffin for hours. The Pinkerton Detective Agency’s thugs guarded us at night to make sure we weren’t thinking of running. All of this alongside indoctrination, brainwashing, psychological/emotional/physical torture that was every day life. After years of therapy, I still get panic attacks about bed checks, nightmares where I wake up back in my dorm room, and struggle immensely when it comes to something even as simple as *letting someone else drive me somewhere*, because my body subconsciously thinks they’ll take me back.
If you’re wondering how well these schools actually ‘fix’ problems, every year another handful of my classmates end up on our memorial Facebook page. In the little over a decade since I graduated, I have lost almost two dozen friends to suicide, drugs, or alcohol. The fact that some schools cost upwards of $15,000 a month, financially ruining families who were fed lies and were themselves indoctrinated, is just the icing on the hideous cake that is the Troubled Teen Industry.
I never thought I’d see the day a government agency actually shut one down, most quietly close or rebrand. Every petition is slammed down with thousands or millions in bribes and counter-marketing by the ghouls who run these places. I’m glad I was wrong. I’d like to live in a world where facilities like this have “was” in their wikipedia pages.

That’s great, but…
…just now??
Anyway I hope this becomes a pattern and licenses for similar so-called “schools” start getting revoked.
