When you’re a celebrity couple, courtside at Wimbledon is the place to be. Dressing up to the nines, sharing a glass of fizz, feeding each other strawberries and cream… the tennis tournament is the ideal day date. It’s no wonder everyone from Andrew Garfield and Monica Barbaro to the Prince and Princess of Wales have shown up at Wimbledon side by side.

The latest addition to the celebs doing PDA at Wimbledon roster? Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife, Sophie Hunter. After arriving in very cool coordinating outfits – Sophie in what we believe is the Janu linen dress by Reformation, still available to buy for £248, while Benedict opted for a sharp suit and tie – the couple took their seats and shared a giggle and a chat. In one photograph, Sophie was spotted sweetly leaning her head towards her husband. Lovely, right?

Benedict was photographed carrying what appear to be opera glasses along with a glasses case to his seat, but both he and Sophie kept their (again, very cool) sunglasses on to watch the games. It looks like the couple had a great time, rising up to applaud as Coco Gauff faced off against Jessica Pegula.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter, a talented playwright and director, have been married for over a decade, having met on the set of Burlesque Fairytales back in 2009. The couple have kept their relationship fairly low-key from the get-go, first making a public appearance at the French Open in 2014, then announcing their engagement just a few months later. They welcomed their first child, a son called Christopher, shortly after their marriage, and went on two have two more boys, Hal and Finn.

The pair are noted tennis fans, having rocked up at Wimbledon together multiple times over the past decade. Benedict doesn’t often discuss his marriage to Sophie in the press, but he has previously revealed the ‘two-week rule’ that keeps the relationship strong.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the 49-year-old Doctor Strange actor admitted that the need for him to be away for long stretches of time ‘pisses off’ his family. ‘It pisses me off too, so we try and do as much to make that not the case – the two-week rule – and try to work as hard as possible on making work happen here nearer home so I can get home, or take them with me,’ he said. To clarify, this rule means saying no to any work that requires more than a fortnight apart.

Benedict has also previously shared his advice for a long-lasting relationship. ‘Don’t be complacent and keep the conversation between you going rather than thinking one of you is always right,’ he told the BBC. ‘It’s also important to be tolerant, understanding and never stop working at it.’
