Jennifer Ellison joked she was “fuming” as she watched Philip Olivier get married over the weekend. The Brookside star, known for her iconic role as Emily Shadwick on the Liverpool-based soap, has kept in touch with her co-stars over the years. The 42-year-old is also a successful business owner, as she founded her own performing arts school, Jelli Studios, in 2015.
It’s been a busy time for the star as she was in attendance for the Moulin Rouge press night in Liverpool on Tuesday. She spoke to the ECHO about the recent reunion with her Brookside co-stars, as well as attending Philip Olivier’s wedding over the weekend.
The 46-year-old actor, best known for his role as Tim “Tinhead” O’Leary, tied the knot with his long-term partner Amy Virtue last weekend. The couple got married aboard The Daffodil, which Philip owns, located on Canning Dock.
Jennifer shared an on-screen romance with Philip’s character Tinhead. She joked Emily Shadwick would be “fuming” to be there for his wedding to another woman.

Speaking about how her character would react to the marriage, Jennifer said: “She was fuming! But she turned on the telly the other day and he was in Hollyoaks marrying my sister so I was like what’s going on?”
The wedding had a star-studded guest list, including Emmerdale and Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas as well as Brookside stars Leon Lopez and Paul Byatt.
It isn’t the first time the Channel 4 stars have reunited. Last month, some of the actors enjoyed an evening of food, drinks and live music at The Daffodil for a private party.
More than 100 guests gathered to celebrate the iconic Liverpool soap, which continues to hold its place as a cornerstone of Liverpool’s culture more than two decades after its final broadcast.
Jennifer has been busy attending a range of events this year, as well as starring in ITV series G’wed.

Speaking about the busy period in her life, she told the ECHO: “I’ve had the craziest few months, I’ve been promoting G’wed, I’ve had the reunion party, I had Tinhead’s wedding on Saturday which I’m still recovering from.”
Jennifer made a return to screens this year as part of G’wed. The Liverpool comedy has been a smash hit success since it debuted on screens in 2024.
It follows the lives of a group of students in Year 11 at school. Jennifer made her debut during series three, which launched on the streaming platform last month. Jennifer had to wear a red wig as she starred as Aimee Morris’ (Amber Harrison) estranged mum.
The actress praised the “lovely” reaction she’s had from fans as she described the role as a “dream come true”.
Speaking about starring in the ITV comedy, the actress said: “It’s actually been really good. It’s been lovely and the response has been so nice, especially the red hair. Everything is like a dream come true it’s been great.”
